UC PA Student Named PA Student Oral Health Champion!
Published by UCPAP Faculty and Staff,
Congratulations to UCPA class of 2015 student Tina George for being named a PA Student Oral Health Champion! The nccPA Health Foundation, in association with other oral and dental health organizations such as the National Interprofessional Initiative on Oral Health, created this award to recognize outstanding PA students who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting and advancing oral health in the PA profession. Ms. George was one of only a dozen students chosen. PA Student Oral Health Champions will serve to help lead the oral health initiative among the PA profession. They are also awarded a scholarship for their service.
Ms. George has a history of service and promotion of oral health. Prior to entering PA school, she spent two years providing oral health care as a dental hygienist. She graduated from WVU with a Bachelor of Science and Dental Hygiene degree in 2010. During her time at WVU, she was involved with the Mission of Mercy Project, which provided free dental services in Parkersburg, WV. This project benefited over 1,400 people from the surrounding area by allowing them access to dental care. Ms. George has plans for continued promotion of oral health and collaboration with dental health providers after obtaining her physician assistant degree. Congratulations again to Tina George!
